Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday August 4th at 8:30 a.m.
Surfs sticking around thigh-waist high maybe a slightly larger peak here and there. Winds are onshore a bit but overall looking decent.
Winds are south south-west around 15 mph a bit choppy as a result and should continue through today.
We have a high tide at 10:54 a.m. . Low tide to follow at 5:00 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 feet at 5 seconds in a short period wind-swell. With reinforcing longer period trade-swell.
Again a small wave is showing at Folly this morning knee-waist high. Nothing great but enough to get wet! Surf im not expecting it to drop a whole lot over the next several days. We have a stalled frontal boundary that moved in overnight coupled with a strong offshore high pressure. This should generate some onshore flow keeping surf small but rideable over this upcoming weekend. Looking ahead tropics are quite for now. Although long range forecast showing a strong low depart from Africa late next week well see.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “high pressure to prevail through late week. Another cold front could impact the region late weekend into early next week.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 77* and cloudy this morning It feels great out. Expect on and off showers through today with a high of only 84 so enjoy the cooler weather.
Sunrise is at 6:33 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
