Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, December 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Our holiday 12 Days of Stoke Sale is in full swing! Come by the shop before Christmas and snag some deals you won’t want to miss.
After a week of fun surf, it is still fun out there – if not fading – this morning. It’s waist high with a stomach set. Longboarders at the pier are getting some.
Winds Are light north-westerly, so surf is nice and clean for the longboard glide.
Expect winds from the west picking up this afternoon at 15 to 20, and this is going to blow the surf down later today.
We have a high tide at 11:19 a.m., will have a low tide at 5:38 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period easterly swell.
Surf is Ok this morning as the tide comes in. Bring the high-volume stick. Look for this to drop quickly this afternoon as winds come strong from the west. This will blow the surf out this afternoon, and we don’t see much improvement as a dry cold front moves in for the weekend, bringing in Arctic air and small surf Saturday through Monday. A costal trough will form off-shore of our marine waters next week, and this will bring some swell rotating from north-east to south-east, but right now it’s looking like north-east winds will be fairly strong for the Christmas work week. We’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA marine weather forecast for our waters calls for: “A dry cold front will move through tonight, followed by arctic high pressure this weekend into early next week. A coastal trough will develop by the middle of next week.”
The water temperature is around 57*.
It’s 56* and the sun is coming from behind with a little of Fog. Look for a high of 65* with more sun arriving and wind form afternoon.
Sunrise was at 7:15 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:17 p.m.
Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
