Good morning this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, December 9 at 8:30 a.m.

The Folly Beach Christmas Parade takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, so make sure to keep that in mind if you plan to surf … or to party.

We have tons of new men’s O’Neill wet-suits in stock. Come check them out and enjoy this upcoming swell.

Also, new Gary Wilson boards just landed. Come check them out.

Waves at the Washout today are stomach high with chest high sets. It looks side-shore and choppy, coming in at a strong angle. Waves are consistent, but tough to find the right spot for a decent line.

Surf is struggling to hold its form with the early high tide, but will likely set up better with the incoming low with the drawback of higher winds mid-morning into the afternoon.

We see north-east winds this mid-morning around 14 knots, and surf zone should become increasingly choppy with a high of 20 knots NE expected midday.

We had a high tide around 8:24 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:34 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8L41 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 12.9 seconds in a long period east, south-east swell.

As expected, a lazy long period ground swell continues today and likely into Saturday as a low pressure system has formed in the western Atlantic. It should push up a pretty decent easterly swell Friday through Sunday. There will be some stronger north-east winds for Saturday, but overall, winds should be north around 10 knots for the period. If you have the means, Florida and the Outer Banks will likely be good over the weekend and into early next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will drop south across the area today. Weak low pressure could cross the region late this weekend, then high pressure will build through early next week. Low pressure will approach the region mid next week.”

It’s 62* overcast and gusty this morning. Look for a high of 65* today and some clouds. Still decent surfing weather for December, minus the wind gusts.

Water temperature is around 61*.

Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:15 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
