Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 11 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is flat with a knee-high set. It is weak and perfectly clean.
Winds are west at 3 to 5 knots.
Look for winds to continue west at 5 knots this morning, going south 10 knots late morning. We see texture in small surf today.
Low tide will be at 10:11 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:07 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft. at 6 seconds in a short-period south-easterly swell, with a west/south-west wind swell pushing against it, so not much surf today.
Surf is looking pretty dang small though Saturday. A cold front will pull through the area on Sunday, and that will be our next best chance for waves, but it’s still not really looking too promising as far as creating any meaningful surf ahead of the front. Looking pretty small for the next five days or so. The best chance for meaningful surf comes ahead of a cold front during the middle of next week, when on-shore flow increases and sends in a typical, pre-frontal winter-time swell with bigger conditions and southerly winds keeping things choppy. Just keep it on your radar.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region into Saturday. A cold front will pass through on Sunday, followed by high pressure into the middle of next week. Another cold front could impact the region late next week.”
It’s really pretty nice at the beach. It’s 50* and sunny. Look for a high of 65* with sun and passing clouds today.
Water Temperature is around 51*.
Sunrise is at 7:06 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:01 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
