Good morning this is Luke the kook with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Sea & Sand Festival takes place tomorrow on Folly, so keep that in mind if you want to avoid traffic, or just want to get drunk and be somebody.

Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high. Not much bigger than that.

The winds are currently west/south-west – side-shore – and surf is overall clean, but it’s a bit weak.

We see a cold front in our marine area today, and wind should be offshore from the north-west early afternoon, going north-east late day at 10 to 15 knots. Surf zone stays clean until later this afternoon.

We have a high tide at 10:59 a.m. and a low tide at 4:58 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1 foot at 8 seconds on a medium period south swell, with a short-period south/south-west wind swell reading 2.3 feet at 4 seconds.

There’s a longboard wave out here this morning, but it’s not too much.  Swell goes high angled north-east for the weekend after today’s cold front passage. It should increase in size on Saturday, but conditions will be windy and drifty. Looking into early next week we could see a bigger south-west wind swell ahead of another cold front late Monday into Tuesday before waves clean up Wednesday morning and drop off for mid-week.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will drop in from the northwest today and stall to our south Saturday morning. Another cold front will move through early Tuesday, followed by high pressure into Thursday.

It’s a warm 68* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 72* today with a chance for rain this afternoon.

Water temperature is 60*.

Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
