Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 24 at 8:30 a.m.

The Sea and Sand Festival takes place on Center Street tomorrow. So, Center Street will be closed most of the day tomorrow. Keep that in mind if you plan to surf.

We are now fully stocked with Billabong booties. Come get some so you can get some cold water surf. We have all sizes.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set.  It is closing out at the lower tide. This is probably the last of our south-east trade wind swell as a cold front passage is predicted overnight.

Winds are south-west at 10 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-clean.

Look for increasing south-westerly winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon. We see a bumpy, semi-choppy surf zone later today.

We have a low tide at 9 a.m., and high tide will be at 2:48 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:04 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 10 seconds in a long period east/south-east swell mixed with a small, short-period south wind swell.

Lazy trade wind swell continue today. Best for the high-volume board or longboard, but it is rideable, and it is warm and sunny at the beach. As a cold front approaches overnight winds come stronger from the south-west today as rideable surf continues. Waves goes back to high angled north-east wind swell for Saturday after a cold front passage tonight This swell continues Sunday into Monday, when surf should be drifty and colder. Look for surf to fall off Tuesday and into the middle of next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will prevail today, before a cold front passes through tonight. Another cold front could move through the region late weekend. High pressure will return early next week.”

It’s 67* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 68* and sun with some clouds passing this afternoon.

Water Temperature is up to around 59*.

Sunrise is at 6:51 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:13 p.m.
