Good morning this is Harper with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Friday, February 2 at 9 a.m.  Happy Groundhog day!

Surf at the pier is fairly small, although there are a few sets sneaking in around thigh+ that could be fun on the bigger boards. Wind is leaving a little texture on the surf as well.

Winds are currently west/west-offshore at 5-8 knots, and surf-zone is semi-choppy.

Winds will be westerly today around 5-10 knots. Tonight we see north-west winds becoming north-east around 10-15 knots.

High tide is at 12:21 p.m., and low tide will be at 6:35 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 10.8 seconds in a medium period east swell.

There is a little swell out of the east that is pushing a few sets in right now. Nothing great, but something to be had on the incoming tide if you want to get the board wet . There is a downward trend in surf conditions for most of the work week as winds stay side-shore or off-shore all week long. Looks like a chance for surf starting Monday into early next week as low-pressure forms near the coast and begins to move north-east of our marine area. As high pressure sets up to our south and this low moves off New England’s coastal waters, look for strong north/north-east wind to develop early through the middle of the next work week, and we see strong north/north-east wind swell Tuesday/Wednesday. Florida might be the call, but winds could still influence the surf down south.

Water temp is around 55*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “A cold front will move south through the area tonight. High pressure will prevail through the end of the week. Low pressure will impact the region early next week, followed by more high pressure during the middle of next week.”

It’s 51* and partly sunny this morning. Look for a high of 60* today with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Put on a jacket and it’s a nice day for a walk on the beach.

Water temp is around 55*.

Sunrise is 7:13 a.m., Sunset 5:53 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
