Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 7 at 8 a.m.
New Catch Surf, Beater and Odysea soft-boards have arrived at Ocean Surf Shop. Come check ‘em out.
Surf at Folly this morning running waist-to-chest high. There is a plus set.
Winds are west – side-shore – at 20 to 25 knots, and surf is blown out and choppy, with lots of drift up the beach.
There is a gale warning in effect until noon today, and we see very strong westerly winds at 20 to 30 knots (perhaps a higher gust) continue today, going more off-shore as the day wears on. It looks like surf will be blown-out today.
We have a low tide at 12:20 a.m., and high tide at 6:22 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 13.5 feet at 8 seconds in a pretty big south wind swell.
We see westerly winds today, which are predicted at 25 to 35 knots and a large south wind swell in the water after a cold front passage overnight. Perhaps the westerly winds will calm late day, but there should be some size to the surf if you are into a big, windy, drift-session. Surf looks to fall off for the weekend, before picking back up some Monday as a front drops and stalls in our marine area, bringing more south wind-swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail until a weak cold-front moves through Saturday night. High pressure then returns through early next week before another cold front impacts the area starting later Monday, possibly lingering over or near the area through mid-week.”
It’s 54* and partly cloudy at the beach with lots of wind. Look for a sun and a high of 57* with a gale warning in effect until noon today.
Sunrise is at 7:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:56 p.m.
Water temperature is 57*. You’ll need at least a 4/3, and booties to be comfortable in the surf.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
