Good morning this is Luke with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is waist to chest high in drifty building SSW wind-swell.

Winds are south south-west at 15-20mph and the surf is choppy as a result.

Look for south winds to pick up through the later morning early afternoon SSW 20-30mph . Late afternoon the front should be close to pushing through keep an eye on the flags.

Low tide is at 11:34 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:26 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 feet at 6 seconds in a southerly wind-swell.

Surf has continued its building trend overnight, surf showing waist to chest high currently in fresh SSW wind-swell. Its really choppy and unorganized this morning and will continue until this front pushes through late afternoon with a possible before dark cleanup sesh. Winds rotate offshore Friday night knocking the surf back down into a fading trend for the weekend perhaps a longboar/fish wave Saturday morning dawn patrol. Looking into our work week high pressure sets up surf stays down until later in the work week where we look to get another bump in SSW wind-swell.

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will cross the area today. High pressure will then return this weekend and persist through much of next week.”

It’s 65* and sunny this morning.  Expect a high of around 73* later today with some approaching showers later this afternoon.

Water temperature is 58*.

Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.
