Clean.

Time of Report: 9 a..m.
Wave Forecast: Flat and cold.
Traffic: None.
Parking: Everywhere.
Dangers: Bad flat and cold spell.

Good morning, this is Bates bringing you today’s Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast. It is Friday, January 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Coming to you from The Folly Beach Wilderness Recreational Area we have a foot of fresh, dry powder on Edge of America Mountain. Hike up to The Pier at the end of the lift and find your freshies. Just kidding. It’s flat, cold with no freezing precipitation whatsoever and certainly no one is surfing.

Winds are north-west, and surf-zone is clean.

Winds should begin to increase from the east, then go south-west at 15 to 20 overnight.

Low tide is at 10:50 a.m. Expect a high tide at 4:45 p.m.

Edisto Bouy is snowed in, but still managing to read 2.6 feet at 10 seconds in an east/north-east swell, but nothing showing at lower tide Folly Beach Wilderness Recreational Area.

We see a south blow overnight after a low pressure system passes north-east out of our marine area. This will be followed by strong westerly winds and chewed up, blown-out south wind chop for your Saturday in the waist to chest high range, but winds will be piping side-shore form the west. After another cold front passage tomorrow, we see flat-ass surf Sunday all next week.

Our guys and gals over at NOAA predict that a “C A low pressure system will approach the region today, tracking towards the northeast across the region tonight into tomorrow morning. High pressure will then build into the region and prevail into the middle of next week.”

The water temperature is around 50*. That’s cold for Folly Beach. 4/3 suit, booties gloves and hood if you plan to brave the winds tomorrow.

It is cloudy with rain on the horizon and around 38*. Look for clouds this afternoon as rain abates and a high of 48*.

Sunrise was at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:31 p.m.

Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
