Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Now is a good time to order a custom Stewart, as we’ll be placing an order this week for spring. Call us at 843-588-9175.
Surf at Folly this morning is thigh-to-waist high in a choppy north-east wind swell.
Winds are north/north-east at 20 to 25 knots, and surf zone is very drifty down the beach and choppy.
Winds continue north-east today at 20 knots, with choppy, drifty surf all day.
We are coming off a low tide just before sun-rise, and high tide is at 1:08 p.m. We have another low tide at 7:25 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft at 10 seconds in south-east swell, with a predominant, high angled north/north-east wind swell 7.2 ft. at 7 seconds. This north-east swell is headed away from our beaches.
We have north-east winds today and a high angled north-east wind swell. This north-east wind swell rotates more easterly, then comes from southerly late day on Saturday. Sunday sees winds from the west behind a cold front. Surf should increase some on Sunday, before getting blown down late day on Sunday, but keep an eye on the timing of the front Saturday into Sunday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will build into the area through Saturday. A cold front is expected to move through Saturday night into Sunday, followed by cold and dry high pressure through the middle of next week.”
It’s much colder today. It’s 49* and sunny. Look for a high of 53* today with sun.
Water temperature is up to 60*, but should drop down to the upper 50s over the weekend with the colder northerly flow.
Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:36 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
