Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 24 at 8:30 a.m.   

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-chest high.

It looks fun this morning. But it’s a little soft at the higher tide, early. It could get better form as the tide drops out some.   

Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf zone is bumpy but clean with a slight bit of drift.  

Winds continue north-east at 10 knots later this morning, going south-east and pushing in more swell this afternoon as the tide comes in. Look for semi-choppy surf this afternoon.

Tide just started going out. Low tide will be at 1:35 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:33 pm.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.6 ft. at 11 seconds in an east/south-east swell.

Plenty of swell at the buoy today, and We see continued east/south-east swell today with semi-choppy conditions by afternoon. Surf should continue to average waist-to-stomach high with plus sets We see a storm system pass across our marine area tonight, pushing more east/south-east swell into the beach Friday into Saturday morning, before surf falls off some late day Saturday and Sunday as high pressure returns by Sunday morning.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A storm system will impact the region tonight with a cold front pushing offshore early Saturday. High pressure will prevail this weekend. A few weak storm systems could affect the area next week.

It’s 55* this morning with showers in the area. Look for a high of 66* with rain today.

Water temperature has dropped back down to 54*. Bundle up.
