Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 3, 2020.
All of our board-shorts and walk-shorts are marked off 50%. We also have almost all of our bikinis marked 50% off. Come check it out while the selection is still good.
Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a plus set in a fresh – and building – south/south-west wind swell ahead of an approaching cold front.
Winds are south-west at 10 to 15 knots. Surf is very choppy and drifty.
We are coming off a low tide at sun-rise, and high tide will be at 1:42 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:46 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.6 ft. at 6 seconds in a building south wind swell.
Another cold front approaches and brings another south west wind-swell building this afternoon into Saturday morning, when we see winds go westerly after the cold front passes our beaches. Strong westerly winds overnight on Saturday should blow the surf down for Sunday, but keep an eye on the timing of the cold front on Saturday morning to see if there could be a clean-up before the strong westerly winds Saturday night.
It’s sunny and warm 67* this morning. Look for a high of 71* with sun and clouds mixed.
Water temperature is 57*
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will give way to a cold front tonight into Saturday morning followed by high pressure through early next week. A weak cold front will then move through late Tuesday followed by high pressure through mid week.”
