Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 31 at 8:30 a.m.

A new shipment of Album surfboards has arrived, as well as some beautiful Epoxy Rusty 419 fish shapes. Come pick up a new stick and get ready for spring.

We’ve got some new tarmac at The Washout, and it looks like they cleared a lot of the sand from the parking spots on the east side of the road. Looking pretty clean up there for now.

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a rare chest set.

Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-choppy with lots of drift down the beach.

Look for north-easterly winds at 15 to 20 knots until rain starts later this afternoon, and we see high-angled, drifty north-east wind swell continue today.

High tide will be at 11:18 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:22 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6 feet at 6 seconds in an east/north-east wind swell.

We see high-angled north-east wind swell continue today with drift and chop in the surf-zone. Surf should average stomach high, with perhaps a bigger set. Saturday might produce some waves. A low looks to move right over our marine area and quickly move northward along the East Coast overnight, leaving some clean leftovers for Saturday morning on the incoming tide. Saturday afternoon, a a frontal boundary moves through after the low passes our waters with strong offshore winds blowing the surf down quickly. Look for small, colder waves Sunday morning. Surf looks small to start the next work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A low pressure system will move through today and tonight, followed by high pressure through early next week. A storm system will then affect the area mid to late next week.”

It’s 46* this morning with cloudy skies. Look for a high of 52* with rain starting early this afternoon.

Water temperature is 54*. You’ll need at least a 4/3, and booties to be comfortable in the surf.

Sunrise is at 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:50 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
