Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 15 at 8:30 a.m.
We received a few Catch Surf 7’0” soft-boards this week, which have been hard to find. Come on by and check them out.
Surf at Folly is still knee-to-thigh high and weak at the morning’s high tide.
Winds are south-west this morning at 10 knots, and surf zone is side/on-shore and choppy.
Look for winds to continue south-west at 15 to 20 knots this afternoon, building choppy, short-period south-west wind swell later today. It’s likely not anything to write home about.
We have a high tide at 9:27 a.m., and low tide at 3:33 p.m., and another high tide will be at 9:34 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading a very small 3 ft. at 4 seconds in a building short-period south-westerly swell.
A cold-front moves though our area late this afternoon, and this could push up some choppy south-west wind swell later in the day, but we don’t expect much. There might be some poor-quality leftovers on Saturday morning, but westerly winds are forecast to be strong after tonight’s strong cold-front. Surf gets small Sunday and into our work week. Another low will move though during the latter part of next week and might push up another south wind-swell. We’ll keep you posted.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A strong cold front will move across the area this evening, followed by cool high pressure through the weekend. A low pressure system could affect the region late next week.”
It is 50* with partly cloudy skies this morning. Look for rain beginning this afternoon with a high of 57*.
Water temperature is down to 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:36 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
