Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is flat. It’s kind of like a broken record. But the good news is there is some surf on the horizon next week.
Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for winds rotating from west to north today at around 5-10 knots, and surf zone should stay clean today.
We are coming off a low tide this morning and high tide will be at 2:53 p.m. The next low tide at 8:50 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading a 2.4 ft. at 4 seconds in a short-period west/south-westerly wind-swell.
For now, there is not much hope for meaningful surf today with little swell off-shore. Winds go strong north-east on Saturday, but it will be a high-angled north-east wind swell on Saturday in the thigh-high range with lots of current and semi-choppy conditions. Surf could pick up significantly in south/south-west wind swell Monday into the middle of next week as a cold front moves into our area Monday into Tuesday. Another storm system effects our marine area on Thursday. So next week, we might get some winter-time surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will slowly push south of the area today. High pressure will then prevail over the weekend, before another cold front crosses the area early next week. Another storm system could impact the region mid to late week.”
It is 52* with rain this morning. Look for a shower and clouds this afternoon with a high of 55*.
Water temperature is 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:43 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
