Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 3 at 9 a.m.
Surf at Folly is once again weak and small today with cold-ish weather. Probably a better day for pickleball.
Winds are westerly at 10 knots – side-shore – and surf zone is textured.
Look for increasing westerly winds this afternoon at 15 to 18 knots. Surf is going to be small for the next few days with similar chili conditions.
We have a high tide this morning at 10 a.m., and a low tide at 4:18 p.m.
Eddisto Bouy is reading 1.3 feet at 9 seconds in an east/north-easterly medium period swell.
We have small surf in the forecast for the weekend, with south wind swell increasing briefly on Sunday afternoon into Monday, when strong winds will rotate south-west. After an Arctic cold front passage overnight Monday, we see very cold weather and offshore flow. Some forecasts are calling for snow-flurries middle of next week, but it’s too far away and not really likely. So, burn up that New Year’s gym membership as we wait for cold water surf.
The water temperature is around 54*.
It’s cold this morning. In the low 40s. Look for a high in the low 50s today with sun and increasing winds.
Sunrise was at 7:23 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:26 p.m.
Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
