Good morning this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 6th at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning are pretty flat. May push a log for the desperate.
Winds are west at 5-10 mph this morning providing clean conditions with some surface texture.
We see west winds continue at 10 mph today, and surf should be overall clean today.
Tide is going out, and low tide is at 1:45 p.m. with a high tide at 7:40 p.m. after sunset.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 5 seconds in short period WSW swell moving away from our shores.
High pressure has built back over our general marine area providing flat conditions unfortunately today. The trend continues throughout our weekend. A weak cold front pushes through early next work week that could push a quick small log wave on Monday. Looking further ahead, keeping a close eye on a low that looks to develop in the eastern gulf of Mexico that models have pushing off the south-east coast that could be a potential wave maker middle of next week. We’ll keep you updated.
Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through this weekend. A weak cold front is expected to move through the region early next week, followed by more High pressure. A storm system could then impact the region around the middle of next week.”
It’s a sunny brisk morning currently 45 degrees. Look for a high of 60 degrees as the day progresses at our beaches.
Water temperature, it’s 55*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
