Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 14 at 9:00 a.m. **Subtropical Storm Don has developed overnight**
At the washout the tide is dropping, and waves are small running knee-thigh high
Winds are south at 13 knots, and surf zone has a little side shore chop on it.
Winds will remain out of the south at 5-10 knots which will keep small chop in the surf zone throughout the day.
Low tide will be at 11:52 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:27 p.m. Tide will be going out until well after dark.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.0 feet at 10 seconds in a small, long-period period east/south-east swell, but it’s small and not much is making it into the beach as the tide falls this morning.
Coming off the low tide may be a little something to surf around midday. There is a little swell out there so the extra push may help, but there will be some wind on it. We could see slightly bigger south swell into Saturday morning, but south winds will likely keep things choppy. There is a chance for small, choppy south-west wind swell to begin to build up Saturday afternoon into Sunday, but it’ll be kind of typical summer wind swell with side-shore conditions. We have a new development in Subtropical Storm Don. It’s pretty far out there in the middle of the ocean and will be hanging out for a while as it loops around. Will we get a little something here or maybe south? We will keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A surface trough will persist inland through the weekend. A series of fronts are expected to pass to our north next week.”
Water temperature is around 85*
It’s 84* with blue skies this morning. It is very humid. Expect sunny and hot weather all day with a high of 88.
Sunrise is at 6:21 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:29 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
