Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ll be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday for the 4th of July holiday weekend. Come by and see us. We hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high and closing out at the lower tide. It could get a push to waist high as the tide comes in.
Winds are west/south-west around 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and a bit drifty. It’s semi-clean.
Look for south-west winds today at 10 knots, and we see a semi-choppy, bumpy surf zone this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 8:45 a.m., and a high tide at 3:11 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:23 p.m.
We continue to see a south trade-wind style swell today averaging thigh high. This continues into Saturday, when winds will likely be offshore for your morning session, and there could be some small waves for the high-volume board. Surf looks smaller for Sunday into Monday, but of course we have Tropical Storm Elsa that looks to take a path up the Florida Peninsula and will likely bring us a choppy, windy wind swell Tuesday into Wednesday of next week. Hopefully the storm isn’t too strong, but might want to get ready to batten down the hatches.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will approach the area today, which will then become stationary along southern Georgia through early next week. Tropical Storm Elsa could bring impacts to the region towards the middle of next week. Refer to the latest advisory on Elsa issued by the National Hurricane Center.
It’s partly cloudy and 78* this morning. Look for a good chance of rain and thunderstorms today, with a high of 81*.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
