Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 21st at 8:30 a.m.

Coming to you from the Washout this morning, waves are thigh to waist high. It’s fairly clean with winds our of the west/northwest around 9 kts. Looks kinda fun right now

Winds are forecasted to stay out of the west at 5-10 kts today.

We have a high tide at 11:02 a.m. this morning. Low tide will be at 4:50 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 11:06 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 12 seconds in a long period easterly groundswell. This is mixed with a 3.9ft @5.9 sec south/southwest wind swell.

Looks like a groundswell is trying to push in, but the buoy is showing inconsistencies. It is possible this could give us a little surf today with the westerly wind that expected to hold throughout the day. May be weak though, but worth keeping an eye on. Possibly waves into Saturday morning as well. There is a low that came off the coast of Africa in the Eastern Atlantic that could develop, but with this “hot-ass” high pressure set up over/offshore of our marine area, we’d be surprised if it makes any headway. We’ll keep you updated.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A weak front will stall over or near our area this weekend and into early next week. Weak high pressure is expected to prevail for the middle to latter part of the week.”

Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 81* and sunny this morning.  Expect sunny to partly cloudy and hot today with a high of 92* and a heat index around 107* Stay hydrated!

Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:28 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
