Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 22 at 8:30 a.m.

We’ve got another shipment of Catch Surf softies in the mix. Come check ‘em out before we sell out again.

Waves at The Washout are thigh-to-waist high with potential for bigger set once the tide turns. Overall pretty drained out with the low tide.

Winds are south-west at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is side-shore and choppy/bumpy

We are expecting winds to increase south at 15 to 20 this afternoon, and we see a choppy surf zone today.

Low tide will be at 9:37 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:12 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at an average of 6 seconds in a short period south-west wind wave.

Look for better waves on the incoming tide late morning when the tide starts to fill in. There is some surf out here, it’s just not the best quality, but it is rideable. Things continue choppy this afternoon as winds increase south at 15 to 20 knots.  Low quality, short period south-west wind swell increasing late week and into Saturday. Low quality south-west wind swell is on tap most of the weekend. High pressure sets up off the Mid-Atlantic late Sunday and into early next week, so expect small trade-wind swell to pick up again Monday and into the middle of next week. Should get better next week once again.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will build in through the weekend and prevail through next week.”

It’s 83* with high clouds and sun mixed. We’ll have a high of 85* today with a chance of showers in the late afternoon.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:27 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:24 p.m.
