Wave Forecast: Knee. Rare thigh.
Traffic: Some.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 23 at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a big shipment of new Epoxy Orion surfboards from Greg Geiselman. Come get ready for hurricane season with a new stick.

Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-high. There is a rare thigh set. It’s bit weak. Best for the bigger board for sure.

Winds are north/north-east at 10 knots. Surf is side-shore and textured, but over-all it is pretty clean.

Look for easterly winds to increase this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots with a gust to 20 knots. Small surf should be choppy this afternoon.

Tide is going out, low tide will be at 1:45 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:25 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 8 seconds in a south-east swell, with a north-east wind swell component 1.3 ft. at 4 seconds.

Not much swell at the buoy today, and it’s not looking like much surf in the forecast for your Friday. We see high angled easterly wind swell pick up over the weekend as a tropical low moves east of the Georgia Coastline along a stalled frontal boundary. Not much chance of tropical development according to the National Hurricane Center, but it should keep some wind and some drifty, high-angled easterly wind-swell in the forecast Saturday into Sunday.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will build from the north through the weekend. Next week, expect a typical summer pattern with high pressure in the Atlantic and a trough of low pressure inland.”

It’s partly cloudy this morning and 78*. Look for a high of 83* today with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance for a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:28 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
