Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 27 at 8 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is thigh to waist high with a stomach set. Occasionally, there is a chest high peak.
Winds are south/south west at 15 knots, and surf is side-shore and choppy. It is soft at the morning’s high tide, but still looks pretty fun.
We see south winds later today increasing to 10 to 15 knots, and semi-choppy/choppy surf today.
High tide is at 8:09 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:09 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:45 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 5 seconds in a mix of medium-period east/south-east swell, and short-period south-east wind swell.
Surf should drop off some as the tide drops out early afternoon. Surf should once again pick back up to thigh high with a plus set as the tide comes back in after work today with choppy conditions. Lazy trade wind swell should continue a bit smaller for Saturday in the thigh to waist high zone with a bigger set and south-west wind keeping the swell semi-choppy for the period. Surf continues rideable and a bit bigger for Sunday, before a fresh south trade wind swell picks up again late on Monday and runs through the latter part of the work week as we sit on the western edge of an Atlantic high-pressure system. There is some surf in the forecast of varying quality for the next several days, so get out if you can.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Abundant moisture between Atlantic high pressure and inland low pressure will persist across the area into late next week keeping rain chances higher than normal.
It’s 80* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 86* with clouds and an 40% chance of a shower today.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunset is at 8:21 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:29 a.m.
