Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 29 at 8:30 a.m.
The 20th Annual Wahine Classic takes place this weekend at The Washout. Come support these ladies as compete and shred it up. We’ll see you there.
Waves at The Washout are thigh-to-waist high with a stomach peak and looks fun for the high-volume board this morning.
Winds are west/southwest at 8-12 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and wind is on it this morning.
Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 knots late morning, going south at 15 to 20 later this afternoon. Overall surf-zone will be choppy today.
We have a high tide at 9:05 a.m., low tide will be at 2:53 p.m. The next high tide will be at 9:19 p.m
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at 5 seconds in a south-west wind swell, with a medium period south swell 1.3 feet at 9 seconds.
Waves this morning running in the thigh-high range with some bigger sets. Mostly drops at high tide, a few waves have a decent face on them. South-west wind waves continue rideable late week and into the weekend. Early mornings are your best bet this week with the morning high tides and lighter winds. South-west wind swell looks to continue for the Wahine Classic this weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail through tonight. A weak front is forecasted to approach from the north on Saturday, then move away on Sunday. High pressure should then rebuild by the middle of next week.”
It’s 83* with bright sun this morning. We’ll have a high of 88* today and sunny to partly cloudy for the afternoon. Heat index breaking a hundred. Come cool off with the seabreeze.
Water Temperature is around 84*.
