Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 8 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high in a short period south-west wind swell. There will likely be a waist set as the tide comes in. But the wind is predicted to go side-on-shore from the south-west.

Winds are west/southwest at 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-clean, early. It’s closing out at the lower tide.

We are expecting winds to increase from the south-west around 15 knots

Low tide is at 9:04 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:40 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:01 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 4 seconds in a short period south-west wind wave.

We see building south-west wind waves as a front approaches our marine area into Saturday. Look for choppy, drifty surf to average thigh-high with a bigger set today and Saturday, with south-west winds keeping things bumpy, drifty and choppy. Winds are forecasted to stay steady out of the southwest through the weekend and then possibly go west by Sunday morning. Not a lot of ground swell, so wind swell quickly fades on the clean-up Sunday. Surf looks small to start the next work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region most of this week. A front will shift across the area late weekend, then stall just south of the region. High pressure should then prevail into the middle of next week.”

It’s 82* and sunny this morning. We see a high of 86* with a chance for showers and thunderstorms today.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
