Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, June 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is knee high and weak at the lower tide this morning. There is not much push, so not likely to pick up so much on the incoming tide.

Winds are north-east at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.

Look for winds to rotate south-easterly at 10 to 12 knots this afternoon, going south late day. Surf should get semi-choppy and stay small this afternoon.

We are just coming off a low tide, and high tide will be at 2:46 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:55 p.m.

We have small surf this morning. Surf looks small for the remainder of the work week. Saturday we start to see increasing south-west winds pushing up some small, choppy wind swell Saturday afternoon into Sunday as Tropical Cyclone Three moves on-shore in the Central Gulf Coast. This will begin to affect our weather and our surf Monday through Wednesday in building south-westerly wind-chop swell as inclement weather passes to our west, and a cold front moves through during the middle of next week. We then see a high angled north-east wind swell fill in late next week behind the front.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Saturday. Unsettled weather is expected Saturday night through the middle of next week as a Gulf low moves through, followed by a cold front.”

It’s 78* and sunny at the beach. It’s perfect out here this morning. Look for a high of 83* mostly sunny skies today.

Water temperature is around 81*.

Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
