Good morning this is Chad and Jeff with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Friday, June 23 at 9:00 a.m.

The tropics are getting busy for this coming week. Come grab a new board to be ready for the next swell.

Looks fun. Surf at Folly still has some size on it. It’s waist-stomach with a bigger set. It’s cleaner than yesterday, but looks like it’s a little drifty.

Winds are 5-7 kts from the west/south-west and is drifty with pretty clean faces from the westerly wind

Look for strong south west winds today at 15 to 20, so we see choppy south wind swell to average waist high with bigger sets for your Friday, and this should continue into the weekend.

We have an incoming high tide at 12:18 p.m. Low will drop out at 6:01 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period south wind swell. And this should push waves into our beaches all day, but the local wind forecast is not looking stellar.

We see south/south-west wind swell pick up as a stationary front lingers over our area, then lifts north late into Saturday. This should bring increased southerly winds. Southwest wind swell should get smaller on the outgoing tide Saturday afternoon and into Sunday, but likely still something to ride. As Tropical Storm Bret starts to move west/south-west, the northerly wind field of the storm should push a little ground swell our way late in the weekend into early next week. We now have Tropical Storm Cindy that is forecasted to track more northwest and possibly showing some swell just before next weekend. We will keep an eye on these storms and update you as we get better information on the next days.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A front will remain stalled over the area today, then move off the coast tonight. High pressure will build in over the weekend, then a front will sweep through Monday night. High pressure will then build over the area for the remainder of next week.”

Water temperature is around 80*

Its 75* with clouds and showers this morning. We should see storms later this afternoon with a high of 80* and high humidity.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
