Good morning this is Luke your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, March 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Happy St. Patricks Day
Surf at Folly is knee high and building in fresh SSW wind-swell today.
The wind is steady at 15mph from the SSW this morning and will increase to 20+ as today progresses, choppy/drifty surf as a result.
We have a low tide at 11:14 a.m., and a high tide at 5:07 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 feet at 5 seconds in short period SSW wind-swell.
We have building SSW wind-swell in the water this Friday morning showing Knee high early. Look for surf to consistently build through today and tonight until the front pushes through early Saturday morning. Saturday mid-morning look for chest high surf and cleaner conditions, as this swell will begin its fading trend from there. There could be some small, cleaner leftovers for Sunday. We do expect the passing frontal boundary to stall off-shore on Monday, and there could be a significant coastal storm developing Monday with strong north-east winds early week. As the storm develops during the middle of next week, we could see swell and wind increase significantly for mid-week.
The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will move through the region tonight into Saturday morning. The front could become stationary just offshore this weekend, possibly followed by a coastal storm next week.”
It’s 63 and sunny today. Look for a high of 72* and sun. Pretty nice beach day on tap although windy.
Water temperature fell back to 61*. Brrrrr.
Sunrise is at 7:28 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:28 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
