Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, March 19 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. Maybe slightly bigger, but it is dropping as the winds pick up.

Winds are from the west/north-west and surf zone is textured and clean.

Look for winds to pick up significantly from the north this afternoon at 15 to 20. Surf will be drifty down the beach and semi-clean as it begins to drop off as the tide goes out.

We will have a high tide at 12:34 p.m., and a low tide will be at 6:36 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 3.1 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium-period south wind swell. West – going north – winds are going to push it down later today.

There are some small leftovers this morning as the tide begins to come in. Best for a high volume board. Waves fall off and get drifty this afternoon. A cold front moves south of our marine area today, and we will see increasing, high-angled, north-east wind swell for your weekend with drifty conditions all weekend. It’ll likely still be rideable, but you’ll want to park a car at each end of the island and drift south to the other end. This north/north-east swell trend runs through the early part of next week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A cold front will move south across the area today. High pressure will then build in from the north this weekend and prevail through the middle of next week. By late week, a storm system could impact the region.”

It is currently 58* with sun this morning. Look for clouds and a high of 61* this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 61*.  You’ll be OK in a 3/2 and maybe booties.

Sunrise is at 7:24 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
