Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for
Friday, March 23 at 8:30 a.m.
New Rusty Torsion Spring models are in the shop, as well as stringerless Big Block models, come check them out.
Surf at the Washout is flat. Maybe a set to knee high. They are working on the groins at the Washout, so parking is limited there for the time being.
Winds are north at 10 to 15 knots, surf zone is side-shore but clean.
Look for westerly winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon putting side-shore bump in the surf zone.
We are coming off a low tide at daybreak, and high tide will be at 1:04 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:13 p.m.
Edisto buoy is 3.6 ft. at 5 seconds in high-angled north wind waves moving past our beaches.
Surf looks small for the end of the work week and into Saturday. We see a quick shot of south/south-west wind swell overnight Saturday quickly clean up and drop off by Sunday afternoon. Winds become strong north-east Sunday afternoon, and we see drifty, high-angled north-east wind swell begin to develop late Sunday, building Monday. This could clean up some on Tuesday, dropping some size mid-week. This swell rotates more southerly late next work week as another cold front approaches.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Saturday. A cold front will drop through the area on Sunday as high pressure wedges in from the north. High pressure will then persist through the middle of next week. Another cold front should arrive next weekend.”
It is 42* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 63* today with bright sunshine.
Water temperature is 59*.
Sunset is at 7:31 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
