Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, March 6 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ll be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. starting Monday after the time change. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday. More daylight to surf after work!
Surf at Folly this morning is ankle-to-knee
Winds are west/north-west at 15 knots, and surf zone is fairly clean and textured, but surf is beat down.
Look for winds to pick up north-west at 20 to 25 knots this afternoon, and surf will be blown down and small today.
We have a low tide at 11 a.m., and a high tide at 5:03 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell, pushing against a north west wind swell 4.6 ft. at 4 seconds
High pressure sets up over our marine area today, with strong off-shore winds predicted. North winds blow waves down for the weekend, but if you head to Florida or Puerto Rico, there should be some north swell for ‘ya from a low bombing out well off of the New England coast. Just a lot of north angle on it. There will be too much angle in the north wind this weekend to send much our way. We should see high pressure set up off the Mid-Atlantic early next week pushing in some small long-board surf by mid-week. Another cold front approaches late week, and surf should build some from late week, but not too much.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through much of next week. The high will build into the region today then will pass over the area with cool and dry conditions through this weekend. Then, as the high shifts south and east of the region next week, warmer temperatures and increased moisture will overspread the area. A cold front will then approach the region late next week.”
It’s 51* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 63* with sun and high winds.
Water temperature is around 56*.
Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:21 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
