Good morning this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, May 12 at 8:30 a.m.
The SSC-ESA Ocean Surf Shop contest will take place at The Washout on Saturday morning just after sunrise, so wax your sticks and get ready to be a winner.
There will also be a paddle-out to honor Samantha Miller and her family on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 2nd Block on the East end of Folly. Show some community pride, and let this family know that we all mourn with them.
Surf this morning showing knee-thigh with a few slightly plus sets. Winds light out of the east this morning, and could improve a little on the incoming tide.
Winds are 5-10 mph from the east this morning. Look for winds to come more south-east and pick up 10-15mph this afternoon.
We have a high tide today at 2:37 p.m. Low tide will drain out at 8:42 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 at 6 seconds in short period ESE swell.
Surf is rideable this morning knee-waist high nothing great but enough to get wet. Weak high pressure sets up off the Mid-Atlantic states Friday through Sunday, and hopefully pushes a few small wave into our beaches Saturday and Sunday. Nothing to big but perhaps enough to get the logs moving for us. Great weather forecasted this weekend for some beach time.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A sea breeze is expected to push inland across southeast Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry this afternoon. Weak high pressure will prevail through the weekend. A backdoor cold front will slowly drop in from the north early next week and stall just to our south through the rest of the week bringing unsettled weather.”
Its 72* this morning and sunny. Look for nice beach weather with sun and clouds mixed and a high of 77*.
Water temperature is 72*.
Sunrise is at 6:23 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:09 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
