Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, May 20 at 8:30 a.m.

The Ocean Surf Shop ESA contest is taking place this Saturday at the Washout.

We received a new shipment of Roberts Epoxy short-boards this week. Come check out what’s new.

Waves at The Washout this morning are thigh-waist high and semi-choppy. May see a stomach high set with the incoming tide.

Winds are south-west at 9 knots, and surf zone is a little bumpy.

Winds will stay out of the southwest 10-15 knots then turning south with gusts to 20 knots in the afternoon. Surf will be bumpy and then choppy later today.

We have a high tide at 12:12 p.m., and a low tide will be at 6:10 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 feet at 6.7 seconds out of south/south-east.

Surf will continue to get choppier this afternoon as southwest winds increase and shift to out of the south in the afternoon. We continue to see short period south-west wind swell today into Saturday morning. After a cold front passage tonight, surf looks small as we move through the weekend.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail today. Several upper disturbances and a few fronts should lead to unsettled weather at times through the middle of next week.”

It’s 79* with sun this morning. Look for sun and a mix of clouds with a high of 84*.

Water Temperature is still around 76*.

Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:15 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
