Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, May 21 at 8:30 a.m.
The Ocean Surf Shop SSC ESA Contest number two will take place tomorrow morning starting at 8 a.m. at The Washout. Go check it out.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach set. It could build some on the incoming, but expect conditions to get pretty choppy as easterly winds pick up
Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 12 knots, and surf is side-shore, semi-clean with some drift down the beach.
Look for winds to rotate more easterly and increase 15 knots this afternoon, chopping up the surf.
We have a low tide at 9:51 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:13 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:24 p.m.
Look for choppy easterly wind swell to build again on the incoming tide late morning into the waist/stomach-high (plus) range with choppy conditions. Atlantic High pressure dominates our weather this week, and we should see building, high-angled east/north-east wind swell though Saturday morning. This should fade some Saturday afternoon. South-west wind swell is in the forecast for Sunday averaging waist high and choppy. This falls off to start the work week as south-west winds and hot weather will bring in small wind-chop for the start of the work week.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region through the middle of next week.
We have nice beach weather. It’s 72 and sunny. Look for a high of 78* today and sunny skies. Enjoy this weather while you can, because summer’s heat is on the way.
Water temperature is around 74*.
Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:15 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
