Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, May 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is flat.

Winds are west at 10 to 12 knots, and surf zone has some side-shore texture, but overall it’s clean.

Look for winds to pick up from the north-west at 15 to 20 with a high gust later this morning, gusting to 30 knots later today.

We have a low tide at 11:43 a.m., and a high tide will be at 6:03 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings aren’t really worth mentioning. All swell is being blown west of our marine area.

A cold front moves through later today, with strong north-westerly winds blowing down the surf today and into Saturday. Another cold front approaches our marine area early next week, and surf once again picks up a bit in a choppy south wind swell on the incoming tide late day on Sunday. Look for moderate south winds and choppy conditions. Surf builds in size overnight on Sunday into Monday in a choppy south/south-west wind swell ahead of a cold front. Look for offshore winds and a clean up for Tuesday, before surf falls off mid-week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Weak low pressure will move away from the Southeast coast today. A dry cold front will move through the area late today. High pressure will then prevail through this weekend. Another cold front is expected to push into the region early next week. The front will likely stall over or near the area with low pressure tracking through the region around the middle of next week.”

This morning is beautiful. It’s 65* and sunny. Look for sun and a high of 75*, with some wind this afternoon.

Water temperature is up to around 74*. You can almost go out with a neoprene top if the air is warm enough.

Sunrise is at 6:25 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:06 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
