Good morning, this is Luke Da kook with your ocean surf shop surf forecast for May 9th, 2025.
The waves at the pier this morning knee high with thigh sets. There is a waist set here and there, and looks fun but choppy if you want to get a high volume session.
Wind are currently north-east at a good clip. It was clean at the early high tide . Ocean’s team reports fun waves early. The old, “Should have been here yesterday.”
Winds are forecast to clock all around by afternoon, from north-east to south by nightfall. It’ll be blowing a good clip at 15 knots.
Tide is going out. Low tide is at 12:24 p.m. High tide is at 6:55 p.m.
We have a lingering front popping off some storms and rotating winds today, and there is some surf in the water this morning. Should be something to ride today, but certainly not perfect. Winds are supposed to die overnight, and HOPEFULLY will offer some waves for the dawn patrol establishment in the morning. Winds should come north-east again tomorrow morning sometime. Toss that coin. Heads or Tails. Get lucky. Be somebody. Sunday sees high-angled north-east winds and choppy, drifty north-east wind swell. Best chance for real surf might be Monday through Wednesday as a mid-level low paressure slides into our marnine area bringing rain and swell. Who needs to see the sun shine when you’re in the barrel?
Our guys and gals at NOAA say, “A front will remain stalled near the area through early next week. Low pressure will move through Monday and Tuesday, followed by high pressure.”
It’s currently 69* and mostly sunny with some clouds on the island. It’ll stay sunny/semi-cloudy throughout the day with some sun here and there. Look at a high of 77*
Sunrise was at 6:28 a.m. and the sunset will be at 8:06 p.m.
Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
Cheers!!
