Inconsistent, clean. Soft.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Thigh-to-waist. Stomach-plus sets.
Traffic: Lots.
Parking: Lots of cars at key surf spots.
Dangers: Crowd.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Nov.13 at 8:30 a.m.

City Council reiterated that there is to be no surfing within 200 feet of the pier as construction continues. Please abide by these regulations, so we don’t lose the privilege to surf in the area. The City will restrict surfing for two blocks in either direction if the local surf community does not stay 200 feet away. Law enforcement will be enforcing the ordinance.

Surf at Folly is waist-to-stomach with a slightly larger set on the outgoing tide this morning. Probably best for a high-volume board.  It looks much more user friendly than it was yesterday, and the crowd show it.

No one is reading this report, because the whole of Charleston County is in the surf this morning.

Winds are north-west, straight off-shore, and surf is very clean, soft and it’s not super consistent.

Look for winds to stay north-west today at around 10 knots. Surf stays clean all day.

Low tide is at 11:55 a.m., and high tide will be at 6 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 4.8 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

Still a few leftovers out there after yesterday’s big swell. Much cleaner and user friendly this morning. We see north-east wind swell this weekend as Tropical Depression Eta moves out of our swell window today. We see high pressure and cooler temperatures to start the next work week, and there are not a lot of swell-makers in the forecast for the Western-Atlantic Ocean at this time.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will build across the area today and through the weekend. A cold front will arrive Sunday, followed by high pressure, then a weaker cold front Wednesday. High pressure will then prevail during the second half of next week.”

It’s 68* and we have sun mixed with a few clouds this morning. Look for a high of 75* with clouds mixed with some sun all day.

Water temperature is around 70*.

Sunrise is at 6:48a.m. and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
