Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Nov. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist set, but it is pretty soft in a high angled north-east wind swell.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 knots, and surf is side-shore and clean with a current still running north-to-south, down the beach.
Look for north winds at 15 to 20 knots today, with occasional gusts to 25. We will see side-shore semi-clean surf today with current down the beach.
We have a high tide at 9:08 a.m., and a low tide at 3:37 p.m. The next high tide will be at 9:32 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 ft. at 5 seconds in a high angled north/north-east wind swell.
We expect strong north winds today and continued, high angled north-east wind swell in the waist high range. Most of this swell will again pass our shores and head south of our waters, but there is some swell wrapping in, and this should increase Saturday and Sunday as a low builds off-shore of our beaches Saturday, moving away from our swell window later Sunday. We see ground-swell this weekend with strong north winds keeping bigger surf side-shore and drifty. Better have some neoprene, as it will be a cold, raw and rainy swell event Saturday, with sun coming out and cool temperatures on Sunday. We see a few leftovers on the incoming tide Monday morning, before surf falls off to start the work week.
There is a gale watch at the beach today, with temperature at 48* and rain. Look for rain all day and a high of 58*.
Water temperature is dropping rapidly. It’s now 60*. It’s dropped 8* in about a week.
Sunrise is at 6:49 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will slowly pass offshore into Saturday, then move away on Sunday. High pressure will then prevail for most of next week.”
