Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Nov.6 at 8:30 a.m.

We have moved  to our winter hours now that the time has changed. We will be open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Surf at Folly is waist-to-stomach high with a chest set. It looks kind of fun this morning.  It certainly has the size.

Winds are north at 10 to 15 knots. Surf-zone is side-shore, a bit drifty from north-to-south, and it’s semi-choppy.

Look for winds to increase from the north-east this afternoon at 15, gusting to 20. Surf gets choppier this afternoon, with continued drift down the beach.

High tide will be at 11:02 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:36 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 5.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

Surf looks pretty fun this morning as south-east swell has developed overnight. Look for choppier, drifty surf this afternoon. Models are picking up onshore flow in the coming days as high pressure moves off the Mid-Atlantic coast. This will build our surf today and through the weekend. Winds will trend strong east/north-east for the period, so it will have some bump, chop and drift in it.  Also, we have Tropical Storm Eta approaching the southwestern Caribbean late in the weekend that looks to perhaps push into south Florida late this weekend into early next week, enhancing our onshore flow and looking to build our surf significantly as high pressure stays anchored to the north-east. Models are still not to aligned or consistent for the long term but certainly something for us to keep our eyes on, for continued, bigger surf into next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will persist north of the area through early next week. A cold front could approach the region during the middle of next week.”

It’s 68* with sun behind high clouds this morning. Look for a high of 72* with some clouds and a 50% chance for rain today.

Water temperature has dropped to 68*.

Sunrise is at 6:41 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
