Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, November 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Happy Veterans Day to all who served our country, and a special shout out to Our Warrior Surf community doing great things at Folly Beach.

Waves at The Washout this morning are chest-to-head high with bigger sets, and the wind switched on-shore overnight. So it’s big and choppy swell.

Winds are south/south-east at 15 knots and should increase south-east at 25 to 30 knots this afternoon. We see big, choppy surf this afternoon. Not a swell for beginners.

High tide will be at 9:18 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:44 p.m. The next high tide at 9:42 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 feet at 9 seconds in an east/south-east swell, with a south-east wind-swell 7.2 feet at 7 seconds.

Plenty of swell at the buoy means some big waves for Folly Today. Tropical Depression Nicole will pull north of the area today, and wind will follow her, blowing hard onshore this afternoon. Saturday, winds come south-west, chewing up leftover wind swell. There should still be some side for Saturday, but the form won’t be great. Hopefully winds will come west late Saturday afternoon. Finger crossed for a quick clean up Sunday morning as winds come north-west after a cold front passage Saturday. Keep an eye on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning to see when we get a quick clean up. Waves look flat to start the work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Tropical Depression Nicole will begin to lift north of the area today. A strong cold front will sweep across the region Saturday, with high pressure building in its wake. The next round of rainfall looks to be mid next week.”

It’s 74* and sunny this morning. We see clouds move in this afternoon and a high of 75. Looks like some rain showers later today.

Water temperature is running around 68*

Sunrise is at 6:46 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:41 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
