Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, October 2 at 8:30 a.m.
You can now park in right-of-way on the side streets at Folly Monday through Thursday. Keep in mind parking restrictions still apply Friday through Sunday. Check the City of Folly Beach’s Web site for more information.
We still have a mandatory mask ordinance in effect for Folly Beach.
Surf at Folly is knee-to-thigh. Maybe a slightly larger set.
Winds are north at 10 knots, and the surf-zone is clean. It’s fun for the high-volume board early this morning.
Look for winds to increase north today – side-shore – 15 knots, adding some drift to small surf.
High tide is at 8:45 a.m. and low tide will be at 2:57 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:10 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is down, but virtual buoy is showing 2.3 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period east swell.
A few waves for the high-volume board with clean conditions at high-tide this morning. This should fall out on the lower tide this afternoon. North-east winds increase into the weekend, and we see smallish, high-angled north-east wind swell fill-in Saturday. This wind swell should build Sunday as a costal trough moves near the marine area. North-east wind swell surf should continue early into the work week. Expect drifty wind swell conditions with moderately strong north-east winds for the period.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will build in behind a cold front this morning and persist through Saturday. A coastal trough will pass near the area Sunday, followed by dry high pressure for most of next week.”
It’s 64* and really nice out. Look for perfect fall beach weather, with sun and passing clouds. We’ll see a high of 74*.
Water temperature is 75*.
Sunrise is at 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:01 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
