Weak, choppy wind-swell.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee.
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, October 22 at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a shipment of new Carver Surfskates and Arbor skateboards. Come check it out.

Surf at the Washout has actually picked up. It’s knee high. Haha.

Winds are south-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, weak and bumpy.

Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 with a gust to 20 knots this afternoon, and we see the surf zone getting progressively choppy and slightly drifty up the beach as the day wears on.

We have a high tide at 9:30 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:50 p.m. The next high tide at 9:53 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2.3 foot at 4 seconds in a very short-period south/south-west wind wave.

We have choppy, small south-west wind chop in the forecast for today as a cold front approaches today. High pressure will dominate our weather pattern Saturday and Sunday, when another cold front approaches. Unfortunately surf is looking small for the next five days. Tropics are quiet for now.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A weak cold front will move into the area this afternoon before passing offshore overnight. High pressure will then return for the weekend, followed by another front Monday night into Tuesday. A stronger cold front could impact the region later next week.”

It’s 72* and mostly cloudy, early.  Look for clouds with sun coming out behind the clouds and a high of 78* today.

Water temperature is 74*.

Sunrise is at 7:29 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:38 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
