Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high in choppy east wind swell.

We have east winds at 10-to12 knots, and surf zone is choppy and weak.

Look for winds to continue east today at 10 to 15 knots, and small wind swell will build a bit on the incoming tide and stay choppy.

We have a low tide at noon today, and a high tide will be at 6:13 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 ft. at 9 seconds in a long period east swell. With a building, short period east winds swell 3 ft. at around 5 seconds.

Small, choppy easterly wind swell is in the forecast for today. Look for increased on-shore winds and bigger easterly wind swell building some Saturday, especially late – as the tide comes in. We see swell rotating more directly south-east, on-shore, Sunday as we see high pressure to our east, and a low from the GOMEX move well west of our marine area. Winds ease on Monday as does wave size, but hopefully cleaning up some early week as wind swell fades. There should be some wind swell of varying quality to ride this weekend. Seems right now like Sunday might be the day.

We have nice beach weather, It’s 72* with sunshine and some clouds. Look for partly cloudy skies and a high of 78* today.

Water temperature is still around 73*.

Sunrise is at 7:31 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:35 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will shift into the western Atlantic into the weekend. Meanwhile, low pressure will move north from the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes with a trailing cold front to move through the area early next week. The front will then return north over the area followed by a cold front which will keep it unsettled for mid to late week.”
