Good morning this is Bates, with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, October 27 at 8:30 a.m.
We have wetsuits on the floor for this upcoming swell, including spring suit styles and full suits.
Also, all men’s board shorts and hybrids are on sale, so come check them out. We have a great selection.
Surf at the Washout is running thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set compliments of Post Tropical Cyclone Tammy. It’s occasionally a little bigger but is soft at the high tide. It looks fun, though.
Winds have out of the north/north-east around 5 kts. Wave faces are fairly clean, and there is a slight southerly drift. We expect winds to turn out of the east at 10 to 12 knots midafternoon. We should see surface chop on the water later today, but there should be a wave to ride all day.
High tide was at 7 a.m. We’ll see the only low tide today at 1:18 p.m., and a high tide will be at 7:30 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east ground swell from Hurricane Tammy.
Plenty of decent swell offshore, so we should have some waves today. Look for some easterly chop this afternoon. We have Post Tropical Cyclone Tammy pushing up swell through Saturday, and then we see surf begin to fade on Sunday. We see pre-frontal south wind swell fill in Tuesday with south/south-west winds and choppy conditions. After a cold front passage Tuesday night, winds go strong north/north-east and blow swell past our beaches.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “ Dry high pressure will prevail across the region into early next week before a cold front arrives Tuesday into Tuesday night. Colder high pressure will then prevail for mid to late week.”
Water temperature is around 68*.
It’s beautiful this morning. It’s 67* with high clouds and sun. Look for sun and a high of 76* today. It’s a beautiful day to enjoy Folly.
Sunrise is at 7:32 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:35 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
