Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, September 2. The Washout.
Waves at The Washout this morning knee-to-thigh high.
Winds are east/north-east at 10 knots. Surf is choppy, and surf doesn’t have good form.
Winds stay easterly today, and surf-zone looks to be semi-choppy.
Tide is coming in, high tide is at 12:49, p.m. Low tide is at 7:14 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
Surf is not really worth it, early. Into the weekend we see easterly wind swell and it’s not big. Just your usual small, easterly wind chop surf. System 91L is still our best chance for waves in the middle part of your work week. Models show our area seeing an uptick in swell around midday on Tuesday 9/6 into Wednesday 9/7, but right now it’s just looking like a small ground swell. Anything is better than nothing, but it might not be the hero swell you’re looking for. There could be some north-east winds on it by Wednesday. This is a slow moving storm so we are keeping fingers crossed that it all lines up.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A weak front will linger near the area today. High pressure will extend into the area over the weekend. Another front could impact the region towards the middle of next week.”
Water Temperature is around 83*.
It’s 77* today with clouds. Look for a high of around 83* and a chance of showers this afternoon.
Sunrise is at 6:53 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:47 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
