Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Waist-to-stomach. A bit bigger, occasionally.
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: Jelly stings.

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, September 15th at 7:30 a.m.

We also have wet-suit jackets and spring suits in stock. You’ll need it late week when the Lee swell starts to get big.

Still plenty of surf out there waist-shoulder high with more of an easterly angle to it now. Winds are also onshore but still looks fun. Just expect some drift and not as clean as it has been .

Winds are moderate NE 10-20 mph this morning and today. Choppy drifty surf as a result.

Tide is high at time of report and low tide is at 1:56 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:20 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 8.5 feet at 12 seconds in a long period east/south east swell compliments of hurricane Lee.

Lee swell has begun its fading trend, although plenty of waist to shoulder high waves are on offer currently. This fading trend continues into mid-weekend where we should still have some leftovers. Looking ahead surf will be on the smaller side Sunday into mid-week. There is a low Pressure forming east of the Caribbean and this looks to be a named storm by tomorrow. Looking like a similar path as Lee but also appears a high pressure to our north will produce NE winds and unfortunately put a damper on conditions. Late next week models suggesting a possible locally produced low off Florida SE coast that’s a ways away. Lots of swell still in our forecast in the next 7 days just not as good as it has been lately.

 Water temperature is around 83*.

It’s 76* with sun and humid with sun this morning. Look for a high of 83* and sunny.

Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
