Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, January 5th at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the pier are waist to stomach high this morning.

Winds are W at 15 to 20 knots and surf is choppy and blown out this morning except for the occasional feathering peak.

Expect W winds throughout the day with gusts up to 25 knots.

We are coming off of a high tide. Low tide is at 1:27 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 7:20 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 9.2 ft at 7 seconds in a medium period SW swell and W wind combo.   Waves are rideable this morning, however there is a drift as a result of hard, chilly offshore winds, and the tops are blown off this morning. Look for waves to hover around waist to stomach up until low tide today, with windy conditions throughout the afternoon.  As high pressure moves into the area, expect weaker surf for the next couple of days.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Dry high pressure will build over the region today through Monday before a cold front shifts through the area Tuesday. Dry and cooler high pressure will then build over the area mid to late next week.”

It’s 49* this morning with sunshine. Look for a high of 61* with sun throughout the day.

Water temperature is up to around 60*.

Sunrise is around 7:23 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:28 p.m.
