clean early more bump and funk later

Time of Report: 7:00 am
Wave Forecast: Knee high
Traffic: Kinda busy.
Parking: New parking regulations
Dangers: A very long flat spell.

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 18 at 7:00 a.m.

Be aware of new parking restrictions now in effect for Folly.

Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council in late June. You must wear a mask in Ocean Surf Shop. Thank you for your cooperation, and for supporting our small, local business.

Surf at Folly this morning is showing knee high and weak overall. Great morning to learn or get the kids started.

Winds are light and variable making for clean conditions.

Winds will increase to around 5-10mph out of the south later this afternoon.

We are coming off a high tide at report time. A low tide will follow at 12:44 p.m along with another high tide at 7:11 this evening.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.0 feet at 8 seconds in an east swell.

Surf is looking small this Saturday morning knee high sets but clean and enough to push the logs. High pressure has made itself nice and comfortable over our marine area and Atlantic. Unfortunately keeping the surf down for the foreseeable future. Looking further ahead mid-late week we can see a small uptick in Southerly trade-swell from our current high pressure. Tropics look pretty dismal although a low does look to develop in the gulf of Mexico mid-week and head towards Texas. We will keep you in the loop.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak front linger in the vicinity through Wednesday. The front is expected to dissipate by Thursday, before high pressure prevails across the Southeast into early next week.”

It’s 79* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a hot day with a high of 91* at the beach and high humidity.

Water temperature is up to 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
