Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, September 6 at 8:30 a.m.
We close at 5 p.m. today Labor Day for the holiday. We hope you have a great holiday weekend.
Surf at the Washout is averaging knee high. It’s pretty weak at the higher tide this morning.
Winds are light from the west, and surf zone is clean.
Winds stay north/north-west this morning, and go south-east at 10 knots this afternoon. Look for some moderate surface chop on small surf later today.
We had a high tide around 8 a.m., and low tide is at 1:56 p.m. High tide will be at 8:15 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 1.3 ft at 10 seconds in a long-period south-east ground swell.
Enjoy your Labor Day and get ready for waves this coming work week. Hurricane Larry is looking like it will give us waves beginning small Wednesday morning and running through Friday. Thursday looks to be a good day if winds cooperate and stay more westerly. The swell begins to fall off Saturday afternoon. The only fly in the soup might be the moderate south-west winds ahead of a cold front mid-week.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will approach the region today, then stall and dissipate through the middle of the week. Another cold front is expected to bring impacts to the region towards the end of the work week. High pressure should move over the region next weekend.”
It’s 76* this morning and sunny. Look for a typical hot summer day with a high of 85* and sun.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:58 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:37 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
